DONATIONS / SPONSORSHIP

Your support is needed for the monumental and exciting start of the Creative Music Studio (CMS)
Archive Project. This historically important project will result in an international treasury
of jazz, world music, and new music from the 1970’s and 1980’s. Re-mastering music from
CMS concerts performed by world-famous musicians is the beginning point. The project will publish
rich oral histories from these history-making musicians, a collaborative effort between CMS
and Columbia University, New York City.

Why? History is an important tool for the birth of new music. CMS in Woodstock, New York
is widely acknowledged as the birthplace of world-jazz. Ben Ratliff of The New York Times
recently wrote about CMS: “.. a definite history of jazz in the 1970s – a book yet to be written –
ought to give it central importance.”

The CMS Archive Project includes:

Twelve Compilation CDs.
Selection from 400 concerts based on artistic excellence,
this musical collection exists nowhere else.

Oral History Project.
A book will be published with first-person accounts as they are still available today,
guaranteeing vibrant and vital histories of the evolution of jazz, world music and new music.

Columbia University Jazz Studies Online to Stream the Music.
This is a significant educational resource and important public venue.

Sales from the CDs and Book.
These will provide support for current CMS educational program and scholarships.

Internationally significant and historically urgent, your support will make this project possible.
Of the $250,000 needed for this project, CMS has collected s $49,500. We need your help today.

Our suggested levels of support provide some tokens of our appreciation.
